Restaurant Love Letters
The restaurant industry was hit particularly hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Small and local businesses in every community faced constant disruption and losses. Many favorite haunts closed for good and numerous workers faced layoffs.
As the world returns to “normal,” we want to thank our favorite restaurants for providing us with delicious food, friendly conversation, and welcoming community spaces.
Restaurant Love Letters is an opportunity for community members to give back to their favorite food workers and community restaurants with thank you notes. The event features opportunities to share stories about comfort, loss, community, and restaurant workers on social media and through chalk art in front of each restaurant.
Social Media Challenge (May 1 - May 30)
With different prompts each week, we encourage you to share favorite memories of your local restaurants and think about the role of shared food spaces in your community. Make sure to add the #restaurantloveletters to your posts so they can be included in the art wall at the end of the month!

Virtual Art Wall (May 30, from 4:30-5:00 pm)
Most of us have a variety of favorite restaurants with different types of food, atmosphere, and associations ranging from first dates to anniversaries, birthdays, going away parties, graduation, or wakes. Restaurants are a core part of our milestones and memories.
Join us on Instagram Live as we celebrate and remember restaurants past and present during our first Artist Conversation with Assetou Xango. We'll explore our memories, milestones and moments and how they are linked to restaurants that are here and that are gone. You can tell stories about the “Denvers” that you have watched rise and fade around you and reflect on how you too have changed.
