Summer Ritner

Board Treasurer

Summer Ritner is a nonprofit executive with deep experience leading and revitalizing Detroit’s cultural institutions. As Chief Operating Officer at the Belle Isle Conservancy and Director of the historic Belle Isle Aquarium, Summer championed major capital projects, broadened community partnerships, and advanced innovative educational programs that welcome diverse audiences.


Dedicated to inclusion and accessibility, Summer’s work centers on breaking down barriers and ensuring that cultural spaces are engaging and open to all. She is especially passionate about bringing communities together around shared food traditions, sustainable food systems, and the diverse stories that food carries across generations and cultures. Summer is committed to fostering environments where everyone can explore, learn, and celebrate the ways food connects us all.
